Sponsor or Donate for Qualifying Races

VASCULITIS: Racing for Life

Thank you for considering to help with the costs associated with qualifying for the 2013 Iditarod Dog Sled Race. In order to qualify for the Iditarod, I must complete at least three qualifying races: Sheep Mountain 150-mile Race December 17th, Gin Gin 200-mile Race December 28th, the Copper Basin 300-mile Race January 14th, and the Willow Tug 300-mile Race February 3rd.  All donations and sponsorship money will be used to cover the costs such as dog team support, sleds, travel and race expenses, and the required equipment. I do not make money from this event. In fact, I have already taken out loans to run the qualifying races, but more is needed. Lastly, the proceeds from all races, if applicable, will be donated to the Vasculitis Foundation.

How to become a sponsor:

If you would like to become a dog sponsor, your name or your company/organization’s name will be listed on my website and, for the Copper Basin Race, it will also be listed on the race’s website under “Musher Information.” After the race, I will provide you with photos for promotional and/or personal use. There will be 10-12 dogs on my qualifying team so you may sponsor one or more dogs. The cost of sponsoring a dog is as follows: Sheep Mountain $300; the Gin Gin $400; and the Copper Basin or Willow Tug $500.

If you chose to become a sponsor or make a donation, use the Pay Pal link below. Once in the Pay Pal site, you can list which race and how many dogs you would like to sponsor. If you are making a donation, simply list that your donation is to the General Racing Fund. You may also mail the information and donation to PO Box 60457, Irvine, CA 92602.

A Super Sponsor can have their logo placed on the racing team and the sled. I will provide Lance Mackey’s mailing address and you may send a check directly to him (contact me for details).

How to make a donation:

Sponsorship is a great deal of money, but a gift to My General Racing Fund of any amount will help. If you would like to contribute to my Racing Fund, you may use the “PayPal Donate” secure link to do so. I must stress that, unless previously arranged, sponorships and donations are a gift from you to me; and thus, will not be a tax-deductible donation for income tax purposes. Current Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Gift Tax Annual Exclusion states: you generally can give a gift valued at up to $13,000 each, to any number of people, and none of the gifts will be taxable.  Refer to IRS Publication 950  for complete Gifting Information.

If you decide to become a sponsor or make a gift to my Racing Fund, check the box below, and you will be directed to a secure Pay Pal site for the transaction. You can use your Pay Pal account or a credit or debt card.

By checking the “I understand and agree to make a gift”  box, you are acknowledging that you understand that this is a gift from you to me and not a tax-deductible donation.

Once the amount needed for the qualifying races expenses has been reached, I will start another page requesting sponsors and donors for the 2013 Iditarod Race which will be a 16-dog racing team.

NOTE: If, for reasons beyond my control (i.e., a cancelled race), I am unable to go to compete in any race, the sponsorship and gift monies are non-refundable because expenses must be paid in advance (i.e., race fees and support, dog care and maintenance, equipment, etc…).
