Sponsor or Donate for Qualifying Races

VASCULITIS: Racing for Life

Thank you for considering to help with the costs associated with qualifying for and running in the 2013 Iditarod Dog Sled Race. In order to qualify for the Iditarod, I must complete at least three qualifying races. This past season the Copper Basin 300-mile Race was cancelled due to extreme trail conditions. I have completed the Yukon Quest 300-mile race. I will be running more races next season and will post the information as it becomes available.  This is a surprisingly expensive sport and while I have taken out loans to cover the costs, my ability to do so has reached its limit. Thus, I ask for your help.  All gifts and sponsorship money will be used to cover the costs such as dog team support, sleds, travel and race expenses, and the required equipment.

How to become a sponsor:

If you would like to become a sponsor, your name or your company/organization’s name will be listed on my website and it will also be listed on the various races’ websites under “Musher Information.” After the race, I will provide you with photos for promotional and/or personal use. If you sponsor a dog(s) before November 15, 2012, I will have a dog coat made imprinted with your name and you will receive that coat at the end of the Qualifying races. There will be 10-12 dogs on my qualifying team so you may sponsor one or more dogs. The cost of sponsoring a dog for the qualifying races is $5000 per dog.

If you chose to become a sponsor, use the Pay Pal link below. Once in the Pay Pal site, you can list how many dogs you would like to sponsor.

A Super Sponsor can have various levels of promotion. Contact me for details.

How to make a gift to my racing fund:

A gift of any amount made to My General Racing Fund will help. If you would like to contribute to my Racing Fund, you may use the “PayPal Donate” secure link to do so. Once in the Pay Pal site, simply list that you are gifting to my General Racing Fund.  I must stress that, unless previously arranged, sponorships and donations are a gift from you to me; and thus, will not be a tax-deductible donation for income tax purposes. Current Internal Revenue Service (IRS) Gift Tax Annual Exclusion states: you generally can give a gift valued at up to $13,000 each, to any number of people, and none of the gifts will be taxable.  Refer to IRS Publication 950  for complete Gifting Information.

If you decide to become a sponsor or make a gift to my Racing Fund, check the box below, and you will be directed to a secure Pay Pal site for the transaction. You can use your Pay Pal account or a credit or debt card.

By checking the “I understand and agree to make a gift”  box, you are acknowledging that you understand that this is a gift from you to me and not a tax-deductible donation.

Once the amount needed for the qualifying races expenses has been reached, I will start another page requesting sponsors and donors for the 2013 Iditarod Race which will be a 16-dog racing team.

NOTE: If, for reasons beyond my control (i.e., a cancelled race), I am unable to go to compete in any race, the sponsorship and gift monies are non-refundable because expenses must be paid in advance (i.e., race fees and support, dog care and maintenance, equipment, etc…).
