Wonderful Support System
My Husband
A good man is hard to find but 24 years ago I found a great one and we have been married for 19 years. Not only do we have the same interests, morals, and values; we both love to experience new things, people, and places. We both work very hard to earn extra money to explore the world. Each year we go on an adventure (i.e., the Amazon, the Galapagos Islands, Palua, China, Egypt, Africa). We are not wealthy: adventure travel, for us, is a priority over things (i.e., new cars, jewelry). After I was diagnosed with Wegener’s Granulomatosis, he husband selflessly put everything he wanted to do on hold so I could pursue my quest to climb Mt. Everest. For the past two years and for 2010, he has allowed me to use our ”travel fund” for training climbs. In addition to the financial support, he goes with me on many of my training climbs so we can be together: even though he hates sleeping in tents and all the rest that goes with spending weeks on a mountain. This training, however, has used up all of our disposable income plus more, but he continues to support my efforts to climb Everest. I have the most selfless and supportive husband on the planet. He is wonderful! We are soul mates: together always – even when we are apart.

My Daughter
A mother could not ask for a better child. She is loving, caring, and very giving of herself. Like us, she is also an adventure seeker. In 2008, she took a semester off of college and went to Zimbabwe where, for one month, she was a volunteer at a lion reserve.

She loves working with lions! Lion Reserve in Zimbabwe, Africa 2008.
The Cal State Fullerton Community
I cannot begin to describe the supportive environment from all levels of the University: from the administration to the students. I can honestly say that I love teaching at CSUF, and to a large degree, it is because of the dedicated, professional, and caring people who make up the community of the University. It truly is an amazing place to work and I am fortunate to be a part of California State University, Fullerton. In addition, both my husband and myself are CSUF alumni.
