Said Goodbye to Mt. Everest Base Camp!

by CindyAbbott on May.27, 2010

We are making our way back to civilization: a bed, shower, toilets, etc…. With luck, we will be in Kathmandu tomorrow – I HOPE!!!!

Thank you so much for all of your comments. They mean a great deal to me. Climbing Mt. Everest was the most difficult thing I have ever done! I will tell you: at no point did I think to stop and turn around! However, by the time I reached the summit I was in a state of amazement at the physical, mental, and emotional feat I had just accomplished: To stand (or sit as in the picture) and look down at the rest of the World. I reached beyond the clouds and I touched it!

Now, all I want is to get home to my family.

I will post a full story when I have recovered for a few days. Right now I have numb figure tips and a cold-scared face.

Summited Mt. Everest!

by CindyAbbott on May.26, 2010

WOW! That was the most difficult thing that I have EVER done! I will give you the details in a few days. We climbed down through the dangerous Khumbu Icefall today after the last Sherpas are done they are closing the South Side of Mt. Everest in two days. It is amazing what you can do if you try!

I have a few minor injuries and see the Everest ER doctor today - they are great!

Now I can ask that if you can afford a few dollars donation to the Vasculitis Foundation, go to my blog and use the secure donation link.

More to follow, but I have been climbing for days and days with almost no sleep and food!
