ABC did a fantastic job with the piece! I love that they included Larry and Tesh. You looked great on the stepper and in the backyard shots… plus they included a lot more climbing footage than I thought! Fingers crossed!!!!

Hi Cindy, I just saw you on kabc7, it took me by surprise to hear my disease mentioned on the news. you don’t hear about WG very often. I was diagnosed Feb 05. I’m on my second bout of chemo and responding well, but haven’t exercised in a long time (lung involvement). I been gaining weight(steroid), and been wanting to start exercising. Seeing you climbing mountains gives me inspiration, good luck on Everest, God Bless.

Professor Abbott,
You and you your husband are one of the best teachers I have ever had at CSUF. I think this is a wonderful thing that you are doing and it is very inspirational. Its great to see you are living life to the fullest and I wish the best of luck to you two.

Good Story Cindy,
I do not consider Wegener’s a terminal illness in most cases. As for me it certainly has slowed me down a bit, but not stopped me I hope to have many more years participating in various recreational activiites. I doubt I could ever do Everest due to my lung involvement. Rainier may be another story…..I climbed it twice when I was in my twenties, but that was 25 years ago. Best of luck to you!!

Professor Abbott,
I remember hearing you talk about your goal to climb Mt. Everest when I had you for HESC 101 in a couple years ago. I am very excited to see that you are well on your way! I wish you the best of luck with your journey and this new exciting adventure for you!

Hi there,
I was lucky enough to be in your health science class in spring of this year. I just saw the article on the Fullerton website… It absolutely made me smile. You are the epitome of optimism, there is nothing else like it. It amazes me. I still think about your class often and your point of view on the world, it keeps me sane sometimes. I was so glad to see the article to know that you are still doing well and keeping an amazing attitude. I don’t think I ever got to thank you for the class, but it really gave me some amazing perspective. I never missed a class, and I always looked forward to it :) I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate how enthusiastic and how much you cared about the class. I’m sure there are many others that felt the same way! I hope you make it to the top of that mountain in record time!! Thank you so much for your contribution not only to my education, but to my life.

Hello Prof. Abbott. You probably do not remember me, but I was a past student of yours in Fall of 2007. I stumbled upon the article on the CSUF website about you going to climb Mt. Everest, and I am sorry for your diagnosis. You were a strong and courageous professor and I know you can make to the top and I wish you the best of luck!!
Merry Christmas to you and your family, and THANKS AGAIN!
